- Eat sparingly. This will lead to a healthy and long life.
- Eat only until 80% full.
- Overeating causes food accumulation, dampness/heat, toxic build-up, tiredness and heaviness and various digestive illnesses.
- Feel Gratitude for the meal and the cook.
- Chew food well before swallowing
- This saves energy spent on digestion.
- Saliva contains powerful enzymes which help to break down food before it reaches the stomach.
- ‘Drink your food and eat your beverages’ (Mahatma Gandhi)
- Avoid extreme hot and cold temperatures in food and drink.
- Excessively hot soup or tea irritates the tender lining of the mouth and oesophagus which impairs salivation and peristalsis.
- Refrigerated food and drink cools down the stomach and shuts the tiny ducts that secrete gastric juices. This inhibits digestion and causes accumulation and putrification.
- Drink green tea or miso soup to aid digestion.
- Avoid other drinks with meals as they dilute the digestive juices
- Avoid excessive intake of coffee, alcohol, chocolate and strong stimulants, and avoid these altogether if there are any symptoms of ill health.
- Avoid processed foods. Processed foods have low Qi energy and often contain many harmful additives.
- Have a grateful attitude towards all food and drink that you consume. The universe if gifting itself to you for preserving and evolving your Life, so be thankful and appreciative of everything that is offered to you.
